HOJ Innovations Surpasses 20 Crane Installations for Spudnik Equipment Over Decade-Long Partnership

Full-service crane solutions support the growth of Idaho’s leading potato equipment manufacturer

Salt Lake City – HOJ Innovations has completed more than 20 crane installations for Spudnik Equipment, a Blackfoot, Idaho-based manufacturer of potato harvesting and handling machinery. Spanning a decade of collaboration from 2015 through 2025, the projects reflect HOJ’s role as Spudnik’s premier crane supplier, delivering engineering, fabrication and installation under one roof as the manufacturer has expanded its facilities and production capabilities.

“We have been fortunate to be Spudnik’s premier supplier of cranes in recent years, supporting their ongoing growth with solutions tailored to each new facility,” said HOJ Innovations Crane Engineer, Jerry Lebaron. “Every building is unique, and our ability to handle the full process—from engineering and fabrication to installation—ensures each crane is built to meet the specific demands of their operation.”

The installations consist primarily of top-running double-girder (TRDG) and top-running single-girder (TRSG) bridge cranes, with lifting capacities ranging from 5 to 40 tons and spans from 20 to 60 feet. Lifting heights across Spudnik’s facilities range from 16 to 30 feet, accommodating the unique dimensions of each building. The cranes are equipped with remote controls, and select units feature variable-speed drives to support precision handling on the production floor.

Spudnik Equipment relies on the cranes for manufacturing its potato harvesting and servicing machinery, with lifts reaching up to 20 tons. Several cranes were installed as part of new building construction to support the company’s business expansion, while others have been ordered as upgrades or replacements for existing equipment. HOJ managed all engineering, fabrication and installation for each project, providing Spudnik with a single-source solution throughout the partnership.
