Hair calibre affects how much visual coverage each strand provides. Thicker shafts create greater visual shadow across the scalp and may produce the appearance of density with fewer grafts, while finer hair may require a different density objective.

Curl and wave patterns also influence coverage. Curly or wavy hair tends to extend outward and overlap adjacent strands, which may create greater visual density than straight hair at a comparable number of grafts per square centimetre.

The contrast between hair and scalp colour is another consideration. Lower contrast may make the scalp less visible, while higher contrast—such as dark hair against lighter skin—can make scalp exposure more noticeable under bright lighting. This requires particularly careful planning along the hairline and transition zones.

Combined FUE, PRP, and Laser Phototherapy
