New inflatable fishing platform combines integrated electric propulsion, GPS positioning, navigation features and multiple control options for anglers
KENT, Del. – Ventral today announced the launch of its Kickstarter campaign for the Ventral Electric Fishing Board with Smart Mid-Mount Drive, an inflatable fishing platform that combines electric propulsion, GPS positioning, navigation functions and multiple control options in a single system.
Built around a 12’6″ × 39″ inflatable fishing board, Ventral integrates a purpose-built electric drive into the center of the platform rather than relying on a conventional paddle or separately mounted aftermarket motor. The system is designed to allow anglers to move, hold position and navigate while keeping the fishing platform and propulsion system integrated.
“We created Ventral around a simple idea: anglers should spend less time managing the platform and more time focused on fishing,” said Jack, co-founder of Ventral. “By integrating propulsion, positioning and control into the fishing board, we wanted to give anglers more options for how they move and position themselves on the water.”
Integrated GPS Positioning and Navigation
The Ventral Smart Mid-Mount Drive combines electric propulsion with GPS-based positioning and navigation functions.
Key capabilities include GPS Anchor Lock, which is designed to maintain the board’s position within approximately one meter under specified test conditions, as well as GPS Cruise Control for maintaining a selected speed and heading.
The system also supports route recording and automatic route following. Anglers can record routes through the onboard system and later follow previously recorded routes without manually steering throughout the entire route. A Drift Mode provides an additional option for managing movement while fishing.
These functions are designed to extend the role of the electric drive beyond basic propulsion by combining movement, positioning and navigation in one system.
Multiple Control Options
Ventral provides several ways to control the board depending on how anglers prefer to fish.
A wireless remote provides access to steering, speed control, GPS Anchor Lock, cruise control, route functions and Drift Mode. The Ventral mobile app provides additional control and system information, including speed, battery level, battery health and recorded tracks.
For hands-free operation, a foot-control system allows anglers to manage steering, speed and GPS Anchor Lock without using the remote or mobile device.
The drive also provides 360-degree steering and 10 speed levels for precise control in different fishing conditions.
Purpose-Built Electric Drive and Long-Range Battery
The Smart Mid-Mount Drive uses a 600W brushless motor operating at 36V, producing up to 38 pounds of thrust and a maximum speed of approximately 5 mph.
The drive module can be installed or removed in less than 10 seconds and can be raised from its base to provide access to the propeller when clearing weeds, fishing line or other debris.
The system is powered by a 36V, 30Ah LiFePO₄ battery with 1,152Wh of energy capacity. Under low-speed cruising conditions, the battery is designed to provide up to eight hours of runtime, while full-speed operation is rated for up to 2.5 hours. Actual runtime varies depending on speed, payload, wind, waves, current and other operating conditions.
Built for Fishing
The Ventral inflatable fishing board measures 12’6″ × 39″ and has a maximum capacity of 650 pounds. Its twin-chamber construction is designed to provide a stable platform for fishing, including stand-up fishing.
The board includes dedicated storage and accessory mounting points for equipment such as tackle, coolers, rod holders, fish finders and cameras. The platform is designed for both freshwater and saltwater use.
The drive system is rated IPX8, while the electronic system is rated IPX7. The system also incorporates safety functions designed to stop propulsion when the control signal is significantly attenuated or when the safety mechanism is activated.

The Ventral Electric Fishing Board with Smart Mid-Mount Drive is now available through Kickstarter, with early supporters eligible for campaign pricing.
