Mayhem Solutions Group COO Shares Insights On Effective Geopolitical Risk Analysis

The thought leaders at Mayhem Solutions Group have their fingers on the pulse of the global geopolitical situation.

In an ever-expanding global environment, it behooves businesses of all types to be hyper-aware of international action from conflicts, to natural disasters, to the financial landscape. And turning to risk assessment experts like Daniel Langlois, the COO of Mayhem Solutions Group, is never a bad idea when keeping one’s finger on the pulse of world events.

“As the chief operating officer of Mayhem Solutions Group, a company dedicated to security and risk mitigation, I’m acutely aware of how global events directly impact our business and, more importantly, the very fabric of our interconnected world,” Langlois shares. “When asked if current world conflicts have altered the nature of our work, the answer is a resounding yes. In today’s volatile landscape, every flicker of conflict in one corner of the globe has the potential to cast a long shadow across borders, impacting economies, security, and the fundamental well-being of communities.”

3 Events To Keep an Eye on, According to Mayhem Solutions Groups’ Daniel Langlois

Langlois noted three ongoing situations that should be top of mind for international concerns.

  1. The U.S. Southern Border

The recent surge in migration from regions like Africa and China has introduced new dimensions to border security. These individuals, often arriving without resources or direction, face an uncertain future, fueling anxieties about security and strain on already overburdened systems. Langlois highlights the economic and social strains this situation places on local systems and the broader implications for businesses.

“They’re not there to cause problems and crime, they’re there as asylum seekers,” says Langlois. “But a lot of times, they’re just interviewed, set loose, and on their way, really no opportunity or direction. And it causes concern because without a job and an opportunity, that can a lot of times increase criminality.

“And businesses are seeing it all the way across, especially the Southern United States and asylum cities that are being overwhelmed with funding of social programs. Those crossing the border cause a strain on our economy; all federal law enforcement security initiatives now have to provide direct support to the migrants, who are often just human capital for nefarious groupsFurthermore, criminal elements exploit the overwhelmed border system, jeopardizing critical supply chain networks like the network transporting perishable goods through checkpoints. As these routes get congested due to border crossings, economic ripples spread far and wide, mimicking the disruptions akin to those experienced during the pandemic.

  1. Domestic Misinformation and Unrest

The echo chamber of misinformation and escalating political tensions within the U.S. is another pressing concern.

It’s very key for those out there to really do their due diligence and figure out what information is accurate,” the Mayhem Solutions Group COO notes. “ “When there’s an increase in misinformation, it generates a lot of friction, and when that creates tension among employees, it causes instabilities.

Such domestic volatility, Langlois observes, if left unchecked, can spiral into national instability, further hindering business operations.

  1. Ongoing Conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East

The unfolding tragedy in Ukraine has resulted in a massive refugee crisis, placing immense pressure on neighboring countries like Poland, whose infrastructure buckles under the weight of displacement.

Meanwhile, the Middle East remains a cauldron of conflict, inflicting untold suffering on innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of military and terrorist activities. This regional instability triggers a domino effect, drawing nations into peacekeeping efforts and complicating global alliances. For multinational businesses, the ramifications of these ongoing conflicts are severe, potentially hindering expansion, disrupting supply chains, and jeopardizing manufacturing and labor pools.

Says Langlois, “When you look at the war in Ukraine, that causes a huge influx of migration. And we’ve seen migrations from the Middle East travel either through Africa, into Latin America, into the United States. The most modern routes are through Europe, coming in through Canada, and then coming in through our Northern border.

“That’s something of concern because now we have a higher population and therefore, we’ve got to adjust the economy off of that. If the migrants aren’t given similar opportunities to be able to support their families, that causes a huge ripple affecting the economy.”

A Holistic Approach to Risk Mitigation: The Geopolitical Risk Analysis Model

To navigate this complex landscape, Mayhem Solutions Group employs a comprehensive geo-political risk analysis model. This framework goes beyond traditional physical and cyber threats, encompassing political, economic, religious, sociological, and technological factors to provide a holistic view of regional risks and their potential impact on business operations.

“We’re seeing a huge influx in threat and risk vulnerability assessments,” says Langlois. “Companies should be proactive as opposed to reactive when considering their threat exposure. That’s where our expertise in consultation has its most significant impact. We’re here to discuss your particular environment, whether in the United States or overseas, and your risk profile. It allows us to give a much clearer picture so that mitigation standards and recommendations can be implemented.”

Collaboration and Communication: Key to Building Resilience

Navigating the turbulent waters of global crises demands a comprehensive understanding of geopolitical dynamics and a proactive approach to risk mitigation. In this age of interconnectedness, private-sector security collaborations with law enforcement are crucial.

Mayhem Solutions Group believes in a humane approach that balances corporate safety and community well-being, listening closely, providing sound advice, and implementing the most effective solutions possible to ensure the safety of companies and communities while welcoming those seeking refuge with open arms.

The world is facing complex challenges, but by adopting a comprehensive approach to geopolitical risk analysis, fostering collaboration, and prioritizing security and humanitarian concerns, thought leaders like Daniel Langlois and the experts at Mayhem Solutions Group can build a more stable and resilient world where businesses can thrive and communities can prosper.
