There’s a bodybuilding secret out there called SARMs. A lot of people don’t talk about them, but they are out there and tens of thousands of people are using them every day.
SARMs are Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators. They are an unlicensed suite of grey market chemicals that can improve all areas of bodybuilding and fitness.
However, they can have side effects, and they are completely unregulated. They are research chemicals that have had the formulas recreated to be sold online to people wanting to improve their body.
Let’s quickly talk about SARMs and what you can expect from using them. Are they a miracle, or are they nasty like anabolic steroids, and what’s the best way to using?
Should You Rely On Chemicals To Get Your Body Better?
Right at the start we should cover the topic of whether you should actually use chemicals to get your body better at all. Should you just stick to doing it naturally?
Well, the answer is yes. If you can achieve the body you want naturally then that is always better. The problem is not only is that tough for many people, but the body you want is often the result of more than natural bodybuilding and great diet.
Now I’m not saying you should use anabolic steroids. They are pretty damn evil. They affect all androgen receptors in the body and can cause horrendous side effects in terms of the heart problems, and potential cancer triggers.
It’s the same with prohormones. These are basically anabolic steroids that are served to you in a form where they are the precursor to the hormone that will be reduced in the body, or an artificial variant of it produced in order to stimulate the effects needed.
So no, you shouldn’t rely on chemicals. However, if you have pushed yourself as far as you can naturally, and you can put your hand on your heart and say that in terms of your workout routine, hitting personal bests, general development, mental health, and nutrition, that you can’t take things any further, then yes, perhaps you should try SARMs which are the safest of all the chemicals which can have a genuine effect.
What Exactly Are SARMs & How They Work?
There’s a misconception that all SARMs are androgenic. SARMs stands for Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators. That means they literally modulate the messages in the androgen receptors situated only in muscle and bone tissue.
So they don’t target androgen receptors in the prostate for example, which anabolic steroids do. They are therefore targeted to muscle growth and strength only in muscle and bone tissue.
However, a big misconception is that all SARMs are androgenic, and they most certainly are not.
SR-9009, GW-501516, YK-11, and MK-677 are all classed as SARMs for marketing purposes, that have different mechanisms of action in the body.
For example, GW-501516 Cardarine works in the body as a PPAR-Delta receptor agonist. It’s known as “energy in a bottle”, and it changes how the body’s metabolism works by reducing the utilization of glucose, and focusing instead on fatty acid oxidization.
SARMs therefore are not all the same, they don’t have the same effects in the body.
You can cut fat with SARMs. Some of them will protect your muscle mass in a calorie deficit, and were indeed created to try and help with muscle wasting illnesses. Ligandrol, Andarine, and Ostarine are the three main cutting SARMs.
Then you’ve got SARMs which build muscle tissue and strength. These are mostly androgenic SARMs like S-23, RAD-140, and Ligandrol. At higher doses these can be very aggressive and deplete natural testosterone production. These SARMs will definitely need a PCT (post cycle therapy) supplement like Nolvadex or Clomid which help raise testosterone production and minimize Oestrogen production and conversion.
But then you have got YK-11 and MK-677 which are not androgenic at all and how they work, but both of which can still produce strength and muscle gains far beyond what you can achieve naturally.
So as you can see, there are lots of different SARMs, and lots of them can use for cutting, bulking, or increasing strength and endurance.
How To Stack & Cycle SARMs
Once you’ve tried SARMs individually for a cycles, you’ll be looking to stack them. The power of using SARMs is in stacking them for maximum potency and gains.
Usually, you’ll utilize a cutting stack, bulking stack, or a maintenance stack which is a bit of everything.
An example cutting stack would look something like this:
- 10 mg Ostarine daily
- 5 mg Andarine daily
- 5 mg Cardarine daily
- 10 week cycle
- Eight-week break between cycles
- Mild PCT (Nolvadex) may be required
That is a classic cutting stack which will up your energy output allowing you to burn more calories. You’ll also protect your previous gains, and you will burn more fat than you can naturally.
It’s the same with bulking and maintenance stacks, you mix the SARMs you want together and taken every day, at different doses that remain within safe and effective limits.
A Warning About SARMs And Expectations
I’ve used SARMs for several years and had brilliant results from them, far better than I had ever been able to achieve in the 10 years before that naturally.
However, I want to finish here with a word of warning about SARMs and the expectations around using them. The quality is very important, always buy pure SARMs from reputable vendors, the other thing is SARMs are not anabolic steroids. You will not suddenly produce tons of muscle with minimum effort.
SARMs require the work of the muscles hard. If you’re cutting, you have to burn the calories as well.
So the caveat with SARMs is that you have to put in the hard work to get the best results, otherwise you won’t see much of return after a couple of cycles.
But if you have a superb diet, a progressive gym routine, and you work hard, and you stack 100% pure SARMs, then after a couple of cycles of around 10 weeks each, you will certainly have a body that is far elevated in comparison to what you could ever achieve naturally the same time.
