How to Create a Healthy Morning Routine

Between 40% to 50% of the population are morning people. If you’re in the other half that are night owls, then you probably find it hard to wake up and start your days.

However, waking up on the right side of the bed is the key to healthy living, as well as having full and productive days. So if you’re struggling with your morning routine, then it’s time to change things up.

Keep reading to see how you can have a healthy routine in the morning to start your days right!

Begin the Night/Afternoon Before

The secret to having a stress-free day is to begin prepping the night before. This is especially helpful if you find yourself rushing around in the morning, trying to get everything together at the last second.

In the afternoon or night, do prep work like:

  • Making packed lunches for your family
  • Preparing ingredients for breakfast
  • Gathering work and school supplies
  • Picking out outfits

Tackling all these tasks will leave you with more time and relaxation!

Wake Up Earlier

Another thing that’ll eliminate the morning hecticness is waking up earlier.

We’re not talking about hours earlier either. Simply setting your alarm 10 minutes before the usual time can significantly improve your day.

Using a gentle alarm sound helps too. After all, a loud and startling noise isn’t great to wake up to.

Practice Healthy Eating

Are you guilty of skipping breakfast or munching on junk food to get you through to lunchtime? Then stop! If you don’t fuel your body right, the rest of the day won’t go optimally.

For breakfast, stick with lean proteins and whole grains, as well as fruits and veggies. You can also enhance your morning coffee with supplements to nourish yourself while also perking up.

Exercise

For the best routine, exercise before heading out to school or work.

Ideally, you’d do a moderate workout for 30 minutes, such as a short gym routine, power walking, or jogging. But if you have a busy schedule, even a 5 to 10-minute yoga session helps!

Don’t forget to stretch first though. You don’t want to injure yourself and limp around the rest of the day!

Meditate

Meditation is a fantastic way to clear the noise from your world and center yourself. It’s easy to do too; you don’t need any equipment, and a few minutes per day suffices.

To meditate, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing and how your body feels. If this doesn’t work, then there are plenty of free or low-cost apps that guide you through simple routines.

Start Your Healthy Routine Today

When you have a healthy routine, it’ll be easier to start your mornings, and you’ll feel great throughout the day.

It won’t be hard to create a routine either. Prep things the night before, wake up earlier, eat a healthy breakfast, exercise, and meditate. Combined, these things will lead to a healthier and happier you!
