Ilchi Lee founded Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi to promote holistic wellness through a combination of Eastern and modern health practices. The organization emphasizes the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. It advocates for and supports individuals in living more balanced lives and nurturing all aspects of their health.
A unique methodology developed by Lee is at the heart of all the signature programs, exercises, and retreats. Each offering is designed to improve physical fitness, mental clarity, and emotional resilience. Classes, workshops, and retreats are available in over 70 U.S. locations as well as online.
The concept of “Brain Education” is at the center of the Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi approach. Brain Education is a system that empowers individuals to harness the full potential of their brains. This goal is achieved through a five-step process that includes:
- Brain Sensitizing
- Brain Versatilizing
- Brain Refreshing
- Brain Integrating
- Brain Mastering
Within each step are exercises and techniques to enhance awareness, cognitive flexibility, emotional regulation, and overall brain function. For example, an exercise known as Brain Wave Vibration involves rhythmic movements that release stress and may improve mental focus.
In addition to the focus on Brain Education, Body & Brain offers an exciting range of classes that integrate yoga, tai chi, qigong, meditation, and energy healing practices.
The Tai Chi Qigong class combines the traditional flowing movements of tai chi with the postures and breathing techniques of qigong. Combining the two enhances the practitioner’s energy flow and creates better balance within the body.
Another popular class is Energy Yoga. This form of yoga focuses on meridian stretching and energy meditation. The goal is to improve strength, flexibility, and energy circulation
The Tai Chi Qigong, Energy Yoga, and other classes are accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels. In these classes, gentle, mindful movement is emphasized over strenuous activity.
The practice of Jigam is another example of gentle, mindful movement. Jigam is a meditative exercise that asks the participant to concentrate on the subtle sensations of energy between their hands. Doing so can cultivate a heightened sense of energy.
The Energy Healing program at Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi combines visualization, sound healing, and breathing techniques to activate and balance the energy centers within the body.
This promotes harmony and overall vitality.
Students are encouraged to look beyond their own physical practices and consider how they can apply their new skills to community-building. Body & Brain supports community campaigns such as the Earth Citizen Movement, which encourages participants to adopt a global perspective on health and sustainability issues.
Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi combines traditional wisdom with contemporary wellness strategies. Integrative classes like Tai Chi Qigong and exercises such as Brain Wave Vibration provide participants with a versatile toolkit to improve their physical health and support their spiritual growth. They’ve already helped thousands of people around the world develop their potential.
