Andrew Hamilton Joins Founder’s Club Podcast with Dez DeCosta to Share the Personal Story Behind VETR.com

Las Vegas, NV – June 17, 2025Andrew Hamilton, MIT-educated entrepreneur and founder of VETR.com, was recently featured on Founder’s Club with Dez DeCosta in a candid conversation about building businesses, overcoming failure, and the deeply personal experience that led him to launch a pet health company focused on affordability and access.

In the episode, Hamilton reflects on a tragic moment while on vacation with his family when his 11-year-old Great Dane fell ill at a boarding facility and had to be rushed to urgent care.

“He ended up not making it… but it ended up being $5,000 or $6,000 to not even save—to just prolong life,” Hamilton shared. “We couldn’t get him into a regular vet… and we ended up having to put him down over Zoom.”

This experience became the foundation for VETR.com, a platform designed to help pet owners access virtual veterinary support and affordable medications— shipped the same day. In the interview, Hamilton explains that VETR compounds its own medications and cuts out middlemen to reduce costs.

“The health of your animal and your financial health—one shouldn’t have to suffer for the other,” he said.

With a background in biotech, e-commerce, and systems engineering, Hamilton has launched multiple companies over the last two decades. He sold his first trading platform in 2008 and later worked in crypto, finance, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. At VETR, he has applied this experience to scale drug distribution, streamline operations, and build tools for pet shelters, breeders, and the broader animal health ecosystem.

VETR.com is a pet health company specializing in the manufacturing and distribution of compounded medications and development of generic medications for animals, including widely used antiparasitic and deworming treatments. By compounding its own drugs in-house, the company is able to bypass traditional supply chain markups and pass significant savings directly to consumers.

Currently, VETR’s primary focus is on over-the-counter (OTC) pet health products, with a catalog that includes high-demand treatments such as toltrazuril-based solutions. These products are particularly valuable to shelters, breeders, and humane societies managing parasite prevention on a large scale.

While the telehealth platform is not yet live, Hamilton confirmed on the podcast that it is actively in development. Once launched, the platform will allow pet owners to consult with licensed veterinarians virtually—helping reduce the strain on urgent care facilities and making veterinary support more accessible, especially in underserved areas.
