Rothy’s And Evian Launches Tennis-Inspired Sustainable Fashion Collection In Line With The US Open

Fashion company Rothy’s Inc. has partnered with Evian to launch a tennis-inspired fashion collection which is now available online and in the company’s New York stores. According to a press release, the sustainable collection includes two hats, three bags, and two types of footwear, and these items will be made from more than 70,000 Evian bottles that were collected at last year’s US Open tournament. The launch is in line with the 2022 US Open, which takes place from Aug. 23 to Sept. 12.

Rothy’s Inc. has made a reputation in the fashion world for its commitment to using sustainable materials to make products for active people. Meanwhile, Evian has been working for more than 25 years to preserve and protect the places where they source their best-selling spring water, which has been proven to boost health and wellbeing. This partnership between the two companies aims to show how innovation can transform single-use plastic into items that can be treasured and worn for years to come.

7 Items, One Material

To make the collection, the Evian bottles are recycled and made into washable thread that feels comfortable, yet is sturdy enough to be made into items that can be worn everyday. These items include a visor, a cap, a sling bag, a racket bag, a duffel bag, slip-on sneakers, and the RS01 sneaker ranging from $75 to $495. Since even the footwear is washable, they can be used again and again and will look fresh even beyond the 2022 US Open, as long as they’re placed in a mesh bag to protect the shoes while in the washer.

Rothy’s is not the only company that makes clothing and accessories out of recycled water bottles. This concept has been around for a few years, and some fashion labels, such as athleisure brand Girls Collective, makes majority of its clothing from recycled material derived from water bottles. Other brands that recycle plastic to make sustainable clothing and footwear include Patagonia, Australia-based labels ettitude and Elle Evans, BEEN London, Nube, and Ecoalf.

Sustainable Clothing is In Demand

The Rothy’s x Evian partnership also makes sense in the ever-competitive fashion market since research has shown that sustainable clothing is now more in-demand than ever. According to recent statistics, 67% of consumers prefer sustainable materials when shopping for fashion items. Moreover, 1 in 3 people said that they would prefer to do their clothes shopping in a sustainable clothing store.

The Rothy’s x Evian collection appears to be on its way to achieving iconic status since its White Duffle Bag, which is the most expensive item, is now sold out. Tennis fans and fashionistas can still get their hands on the other six items, but be advised that the collection will be available for a limited time only.

The partnership by Rothy’s Inc. and Evian paves the way for more companies to release products that are better for the environment. It’s expected that many more clothing companies, as well as other sustainable brands, may release exciting clothing and accessories that would gain the support of discerning fashion-forward individuals.
