ECT Wins Multimillion Tender to Replace VAS at Leading Latin American CSP

European Computer Telecoms AG (ECT) announced that it has signed a three-year agreement with one of Latin America’s leading communications service providers (CSPs). Under this agreement, ECT will migrate the CSP’s bare-metal platforms for various value-added services (VAS) to low-code software solutions delivered as cloud-native network functions (CNFs). Using a competitive tender process, the CSP selected ECT as the best provider for the initiative. This contract is the first collaboration between ECT and the CSP.
The CSP, which has a presence in multiple Latin American countries, has grown its user base ten-fold in less than a decade by investing in technology and focusing on a customer-centric experience. To guarantee continuous expansion and growth, the CSP had decided to modernize its value-added services (VAS) and eliminate the high maintenance fees and inflexibility of multiple, older VAS platforms.
A seamless transition from bare-metal to cloud-native solutions is a top priority for CSPs worldwide. The migration process should be invisible to their customers, and the new service apps should offer the same features that have already proven to be popular with the existing customer base. At the same time, these applications should also allow easy individualization and lower maintenance costs. These types of transitions are at the center of ECT’s expertise.
“ECT’s solution was technically and commercially the best option for solving our new customer’s challenges,” said Omar Salazar Brenes, ECT’s Managing Director for North, Central and South America. “We are pleased to work with such an innovative partner, and we are looking forward to extending our collaboration for many years to come.”
This agreement encompasses standard network services, such as voicemail, SMSC, SMS Gateway and USSD, all based on tailored software solutions composed using ECT’s Telecoms Low Code. These modules will allow the CSP to customize and individualize its applications without ECT’s assistance. All the services provided by ECT will be virtualized and integrated into the CSP’s new, state-of-the-art network.
The contract has a duration of 36 months with an extension option, and a minimum value of several million euros. The project will start in March 2023.
