A Quick Guide to Minecraft for Beginners

Minecraft. It is arguably one of the most popular video games of all time.

This videogame was released over a decade ago and it is still very popular to this day. There are still over 140 million active players monthly in 2023.

With so many people still playing Minecraft, gaming tips for beginners is still essential to explore this world.

What are the best tips for playing Minecraft? How will each of these help you? Why is it worth playing this game?

This is Minecraft for beginners.

Main Menu

First, you have to buy the game and install it onto your PC. Once you do that, it should open for you and it will bring you to the main menu.

On the main menu, you will be given two options. These options are for you to play a single player game or a multiplayer game. For the purposes of this article, we are going to stick to the single player functions.

Assuming you click the single player button, it will bring you to another screen where you get to start creating your world.

The first thing it will ask about your world is to give it a name. This can be anything you want, so feel free to have fun with this part. Your name could even make an article on a video game news website for funniest world names.

The second thing it will ask you is where things get interesting. We will talk about that more below.

Game Modes

One of the most important parts of getting started with Minecraft is deciding what game mode you are going to play in your world. There are five different game modes that you can choose from.

However, you should know that each of these game modes is going to give you an entirely different gaming experience.

Someone could find one completely boring or unappealing to them and another person may end up falling in love with the same game mode. That can apply to every game mode on here, so make sure you understand what each mode offers before making a final decision.

Here are the basics that you should know about each game mode.

Survival Mode

One of the more popular game modes that players choose is Survival Mode. This mode encourages players to fight for their lives in the game and use a bit more strategy to defeat their opponents.

Here, you will be responsible for getting your own food and building your own shelter. However, you are going to have to be ready to defend yourself against mobs that could come after you.

You will get a weapon and some tools at the start of this game mode. Choose the one that is right for you. Eventually, you will work your way up.

Something else that you need to know is what happens if you die. Here, you will respawn. Before your first death, this game mode will ask you where on the map you want to respawn.

Eventually, you could get strategic enough in this game mode to make that work to your advantage.

Hardcore Mode

Hardcore Mode is essentially taking a level up from Survival Mode. Here, you are doing the same basic tasks as you would in Survival Mode. You have to find food, build a shelter, gain the tools and experience you need, fight off mobs, etc.

However, the difficulty is at the hardest level in this game mode. Plus, there is one more catch.

Unlike Survival Mode, you do not respawn if you die. Instead, your world gets deleted and you have to start all over again. So, it is safe to say that Hardcore Mode worlds tend to have higher stakes.

Creative Mode

Unlike the first two game modes, Creative Mode has no violence. You do not have to do a lot of the tasks that the other two modes require you to do.

Instead, you focus purely on building things. This can be a shelter, a skyscraper, a business, or anything that your mind can think of.

This can be a great mode for people that are more into architecture, art, or just using their minds to try to come up with new ideas.

Adventure Mode

This mode is arguably the most interactive of the game modes here. The reason is that even though you are a single player, you have to work more directly with other characters in this mode.

You could end up working with other mobs to complete certain missions in this mode and you can have interaction with objects in this world to help you accomplish certain tasks. This is great for those that like games centered around missions.

Spectator Mode

Finally, you have Spectator Mode. This one is the simplest game mode to create a world in. That is because, with this mode, your main goal is to observe the other world.

This can be anyone from a friend that wants to show you their world or their skills. If you see a vlogger that is very good at Minecraft, you may also want to observe their world to improve your own game skills.
